Walt: Solve fraction facts using my knowledge of my timetables
One thing that I learn't from this problem is that 70 + 30 = 100 because Miss Grey had 100 jelly beans and she gave 30 then she had 70 left so if I add 70 + 30 = 100.27 Aug 2015 11:50:20.jpg

My follow up task

Walt: Solve fraction facts using my knowledge of my timetables This term my maths class is learning about fractions and we can use it by timetables because 1/3 of 18 = 6 because 6+6+6=18.One thing that I learnt was 4x6=24 because 6+6=12 then 6+6=12 then 12+12 = 24 because 10+10=20 then 2+2=4 then I add them together equals 24.

The ants and the Grasshopper - the sequel

Walt: Infer and interpret the main ideas in the story One thing that I learn't from the story was that the ants were preparing for winter. The second thing that I learn't was that the grasshopper was outside freezing and cold .

Grass to Glass - Part 2

As the milk comes out of the cow it goes into a tank that's like a fridge where ,  the milk is cooled. When the farmers milk the cow their milk goes into a big silo where it keeps cold.

When the milk goes into a spinning machine the Milk and cream are separated. The kind of milk that
you can make is dark blue milk , light blue milk ,
also the dark green milk.

As the milk is boiling in the machine Bacteria is killed by pasteurising the milk. It kills about 72 degrees celsius.

`Finally the milk is bottled, ready for you to drink. That completes the journey from grass to glass.

Walt: Use two strategies to solve number problems
14 Aug 2015 11:57:14.jpg
one thing that I learnt from this strategy was 27 + 47   = 74   because
20 + 40 = 60 then 7 + 7 = 14
60 +14 = 74 .

Also my other strategy was 584 + 800 = 1384
1384 + 40 = 1424 then 1424 + 5 = 1429

Walt: Use two strategies to solve number problems

12 Aug 2015 12:34:16.jpg
one thing that I  learnt was 56 + 67 + 33 + 6 +7 + 3 = 156 .
This strategy is called tidy numbers.

Grass to Glass - part one

Add detail to the end of sentences.

Cows eat 70 kilograms of grass a day, which is  twice as heavy as me . That means they have to eat all day , but they eat grass so they can make milk for us to drink.

Cows have four stomachs ,that goes into  the stomach  that breaks up  into little  pieces , to help them so they can make milk.

But they eat the grass then they burp  it out then they chew j it again  then it  turns into milk.

Milking happens twice a day, once in the morning and once at late afternoon. It can not be missed out before it gets infections or be in pain. It takes seven to eight minutes to milk the cows . In the olden days farmers use to use their hands to milk the cows. There produce 30 litres of milk.

Now days milking machines do all the hard work , so its easier  for the farmer . In the old days they use to use their hands. The cows like getting milked from the machine because it’s easier to milk the cows.Do you know that one cow can make 30 litres of milk in one day .

Living On a Farm

Growing up on a Farm in a country is so fun. We've  been looking at dairy farms at New Zealand , How farmers and machines have the same role in producing milk.

If I was raised on a farm I would feed the cows by putting the vacuum cups . My other one is that I would  ride on the motorbike because if you live in the City you won’t Allowed to Ride on a motorbike. But Only you are old enough.

My next  Favourite thing on a Farm  is that I would feed the chickens also  grabbing the eggs inside the cage , Also when you wake up in  the morning you can lead the cows into  the pen. Also feeding the calves by making the milk with the milk powder by mixing it with water.

It has been interesting to learn about what it would be like to live on a dairy farm, all the jobs you get to help with and animals you care for. But living there full time? No thank you. I think I’ll stick to the city.
