Today I’m writing about a short tailed bat. A short tailed bat is a New Zealand native animal.
Habitat:
Did you know that a short tailed bat lives in native forests in New Zealand.They roost in large, hollow trees and the caves. Sometimes they live alone and sometimes in colonies. They mostly live in the South Island and a little bit in the North Island.

A short tailed bat is the same size as a person’s thumb. They have sharp claws sharp teeth also a strange nose. Short tailed bats are coloured in mousy grey colour. They have a large pointy ears that’s brown and they have wings . the short tailed bat has thick fur
Diet :
A short tailed bat likes to eat insects like flies and moths. They also eat flowers , fruits and nectar. beetles and pollen.
characteristics :
The short tailed bat is a nocturnal and some of the short tailed bats is the only member of the family. They hunt their prey using scent, passive hearing. A short tailed bats spend only around 30% catching insects in the air.One Fact that I know was that a short tailed bat weigh around 12 - 15 grams.
